new generation 911 is made by Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control
(PDCC) - available as an option for the 911 Carrera S. Equipped with this system, the open-top models as well achieves a new level in terms of lateral acceleration and handling. This increases the maximum cornering speeds. The system also affords an even more direct steering feedback and Greater steering precision. In the
new 911,
Porsche Torque vectoring
(PTV) yet ensures Greater agility, featured as standard in the open-top
911 Carrera S and available as an optional extra for the
Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet. The system is available in two versions: the
PTV version with mechanical differential lock when twinned with the manual transmission and in
MDD as vehicles with electronically controlled
PTV Plus, fully variable differential lock.
The dimensions of the 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine in the
Carrera S remained unchanged. Both engines feature direct fuel injection, variable intake valve timing and valve lift switching (VarioCam Plus) and breathe through an especially flow-optimized and Thus Spake efficiency-enhanced intake manifold.
